How do you get Pokemon to love you?

to bond with your Pokemon you need to feed it stuff like carbos's and iron's and i think you need to use it a lot. i'd use some berries whose describetions say they will make their friend ship higher. in veilstone city go into one house and talk to one girl and tell her which Pokemon will get a massage. that is all the ways i can think of right now and im so sorry if you don't have dimond,pearl, or platinum.
