A psychrometer measures humidity using two thermometers: a dry bulb and a wet bulb. The dry bulb measures the air temperature, while the wet bulb is covered with a moistened wick and measures the temperature influenced by evaporation. The difference between these two temperatures indicates the relative humidity; a larger difference suggests lower humidity, as more evaporation occurs, cooling the wet bulb more significantly. Conversely, a smaller difference indicates higher humidity, as less evaporation takes place.
