How do you level up your chimp gun in ratchet and clank a crack in time?

It is sort of like other weapons, just use it on enemies. Although, it takes a very long time to upgrade. Some have suggested Glimick Valley, and the moons with only enemies. Personally, i have reached level 5, and there is an omega as well. Just have LOTS of patience
