Roses, like all plants, do not "breathe" in the way animals do, but they do perform gas exchange through tiny openings called stomata. During photosynthesis, they take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. At night, when photosynthesis ceases, they may take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide, but this process is minimal compared to their daytime activity. Thus, while they don't breathe in the traditional sense, they do engage in essential gas exchanges.
