What does it mean when smoke comes out of the vents in your car and now air conditioner stopped working?

Possibly seized up AC pump or AC clutch causing the belt to spin around the pulley burning it rather than spin the pump. Look for blobs of melted rubber sprayed anywhere in the area. Happened to me yesterday.
