Why is the Stuart dynasty known as the least successful one?

The Stuart Dynasty is known as one of the least successful dynasties for several reasons. Its rulers were ineffective and plagued by problems. Charles I was put on trial and beheaded; James II fled the throne. James I never realized his ambitions, and Charles II had none.
