Why Ernest Hemingway named his boat Pilar?

Ernest Hemingway named his boat Pilar after the character in his novel "For Whom the Bell Tolls." Pilar was a strong, independent woman whom Hemingway greatly admired, and he felt the name was fitting for his beloved boat.
