How do you replace the drive belt on a 16.5hp 42 inch deck on a huskee riding mower?

There are lots of mounting points on the deck. Pay attention to how they are taken off.

1. Remove the deck, by "rolling" the belt offf of the engine crankshaft pulley

2. Remove all the hold-down cotter pins (there should be 8), displace the deck from the 8 hangers, remove the deck from beneath the mower

3. Lift the mower to an upright position and secure (so it doesn't fall on you)

4. Remove the engine crankshft pulley, along with that end of the belt, by removing the crankshaft bolt (pay attention to how it comes off)

5. Unscrew the "Forward/ Reverse" knob, remove the plate beneath the knob to give access to the PTO pulley. (be sure to unplug the SAFETY device from the bottom of plate)

6. Remove the SNAP RING from the PTO pulley, and remove the pulley (pay attention how it comes off. Which belt where? MY pulley was a double pulley, of which one side "Floated")

7. Remove the clip (spring) from the Forward/ Reverse lever that is about half way down the shaft, and to the left of the pulley. Give it a twist and squeeze to the right. (This is tricky to put back on. PAY ATTENTION. The "U" part of the clip will go on the BACK side of the shaft when reinstalling. Then use pliers and/ or screwdriver to push the other part over the front side to catch the shaft)

8. Pull the tension pulley away and remove the rear drive belt.

GREASE ALL BEARINGS BEFORE PUTTING THE MOWER BACK TOGETHER!
