Can doctors purposely induce memory loss such that a loved one can be forgotten?

i wish. You may be confusing real life with the film 'eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' lol. But no I'm afraid it's not medically possible to remove specific memories; although total amnesia can occur, it is fairly indescriminate as to which memories it wipes.
