A peanut has more calories probably because of the fatty oils in it. The oils are good for health, don't get that wrong, but the oils have calories. And they add up to the grand total.

And in many leading peanut butter brands, I found out that my peanut butter has 200 calories in 2 tablespoons! In brands like Skippy, or JIF, they might be 10 or 20 calories less because mine has all of the oil at the top and it takes an hour to churn the peanut butter and make sure the bottom of the can is not all dry. Their peanut butter doesn't have that.

But most likely it is the fatty oils inside the peanut that make them have more calories. But the way they are put into peanut products makes them have more calories because of other ingredients. But, however, eat peanuts. They are very good for you and taste awesome. And I am a huge peanut fan as well, too.
