How many parts has a car?

The amount of parts to build a car vary wildly depending on the type and model of a car. On average though a car made in the US by a major car manufacture will contain about 5000 individual parts. It also depends on what you consider a part. A fuel pump for example is a part but that pump contains many smaller parts.
