What was the importance of poetry and songs during World War 1?

Poetry and songs were used during the First World War to raise moral. They also were used for the writers and poets to express their feelings about what was happening at that time in their lives. Now we can look back at the poems and see how their lives were affected by the war and what conditions were like for both civilians and soldiers.
