Why is your engine light onon your 96 Tacoma?

Usually its caused by your oxygen sensor also known as O/2 sensor. Or a missfire caused by water in fuel or dirty injectors. You can turn the light out by disconecting your battery for 10 minutes or longer but not less,this will reset the computer and the light will stay off unless the sensor is bad or you have another missfire.The sensor is located in the exhaust pipe.
