Goldfish primarily inhabit shallow freshwater environments, such as ponds, lakes, and streams. They prefer areas with plenty of vegetation and substrates that provide shelter and food. In aquaculture and home aquariums, they are often kept in tanks that mimic these conditions, allowing them to thrive in a controlled environment. Generally, goldfish are not found in deep waters, as they tend to stay in the upper layers where light and oxygen are more abundant.
