It is important for each individual to create their own path, live life to the fullest because every day could be their last. In A Separate Peaceby John Knowles, Phineas is an adventurous character known to take advantage of every day. In the movie Dead poets society by Tom Schulman, the protagonist Neil Perry goes for every opportunity and takes chances to do what he loves.

Neil Perry loves theater, but there is one problem his father. In the movie Neil is born with his life planned out for him. Then, the inspirational teachings of Mr. John Keating bring new ideas about his life and the opportunities at hand to light. With this new found love of the arts Neil takes a chance and creates his own path against his father's wishes. Neil strives to find his own voice in this world even if that means breaking some rules along the way.

Phineas isn't afraid to go against the norm and brings his friend Gene with him. Phineas is a student at Devon Academy and Gene's classmate and best friend. He takes chances like one night he took gene to the beach to swim even though in Devon Academy that is against the rules. Also he creates the secret suicide society of the summer session and recruits some of his and genes friends to join.

Everyone has a purpose in this world you just have to find yours like Neil and Finny did. Neil's purpose was to inspire others, being Todd Anderson. And Finny's is to shead a new light on Devon Academy and bring back joy and adventure into his and his friends lifes.
