The cricut expressions machine cuts images using cricut cartridges that have images on them or by using a software called sure cuts a lot.

In it's simplest form you install a cricut cartridge that has fonts and images on it.

You use the keypad to select the height and the dimensions of the object you wish to cut. There is a display panel to help you along the way.

To use the cricut you need to purchase a cricut mat. The mat is sticky. You adhere you paper to the mat and load it into the cricut machine. Press cut and the machine does all the work for you.

If you want to use the cricut design studio software or the sure cuts a lot software you will need a usb cable similar to the one you use on your printer to connect it to your computer. The cricut design studio software allows more flexibility to layout your design on your computer screen before you cut. To use this software you must own the desired cricut cartridge.

If you are interested in creating your own designs you purchase sure cuts a lot software and learn how to use the free program called inkscape. With this combination you can cut unlimited designs.
