Yes they are. They are mostly used in surgery with a human Doctor at the controls. They can be used in minimally-invasive surgeries or to enhance open surgery. This is advantageous because the doctor does not necessarily need to be present, which gives way to the possibility of remote surgeries in very rural areas for minor surgeries.
