Usamah bin Munqidh (1095–1188) was a Syrian nobleman, poet, and historian known for his accounts of the Crusades and interactions with European knights. He served as a military leader and diplomat for the Zengid dynasty in Syria. His most famous work, "The Book of Contemplation," offers valuable insights into the culture and politics of the time, as well as his personal experiences and observations of the Crusaders. Usamah's writings are considered significant for understanding Muslim perspectives during the Crusader period.
