I replaced the float needle valve on my recon 250 carburetor but the engine only runs when the choke is on and stalls when gas is givendoes anyone have an answer?

Your answer sounds like it is in your question. If it runs only with the choke on, then there must be too much air sucked in from somewhere. You will have to check all vacuum lines, and possibly start with new gaskets. Also check the float level, could be too high. Good luck.
