There are both male and female mosquitoes.
Thank the gods that they are sexual. If they were asexual we would have quite a bit more of an epidemic on our hands. Fortunately it takes a male and female mosquito to have fertilized eggs, which makes it easier to kill them and prevent them from breeding.
Interestingly, they may be a species of pure inbreds seeing how they have not evolved over the course of tens to hundreds of millions of years;. thus if you went back in time and killed one, you wouldn't have entered the grandfather paradox.
