Marvelous City is an English equivalent of 'Cidade Maravilhosa'. It's the name of the civic anthem for the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro is Brazil's most famous capital city even though Brasília is world famous for its architecture and São Paulo is world famous as an economic center. It's the capital of the state of Rio de Janeiro. It also was the federal capital of the Republic of Brazil from 1793 to 1960.

Rio receives the most visitors annually in the Southern Hemisphere. In 2008, 2.82 million people visited Rio. Specifically, the city's cherished landmarks include Copacabana Beach, Christ the Redeemer ['O Cristo Redentor'], and Sugarloaf Mountain['Pão de Açúcar'].

Rio is a thriving architectural, cultural, economic and financial center. In 2016 Rio will be the first South American city to host the Summer Olympics.
