While there's a lot of debate over this topic, I'd say yes. Olive oil is similar to natural face oils, contains vitamins A, E and K (I know A and E can be absorbed into the skin, not sure about K), and helps the skin stay moisturized.

When people object to the use of olive oil on the skin, it's usually because they assume that any sort of oil clogs the pores and adds to oil buildup on the face. What they don't realize is that oils are produced by the face because they are necessary (in proper amounts) in skin protection and hydration . Using soaps and other harsh chemicals (acne medications etc) tend to excessively dry the skin. This can lead to excessive dryness and inflammation, which can cause wrinkles and acne. As well, dry skin forces your oil glands to step up production, causing excessive oil production, leading to an oily appearance.

Olive oil can be used in tandem with castor oil for an Excellent facial cleanser (look up the oil cleaning method for lots of articles), which clears away dead skin and bacteria and unclogs pores while not stripping the skin's oils.

Olive oil can also be used on its own after cleansing for a moisturizer. When used sparingly, your skin will feel soft, without an oily sheen.
