Colostrum is primarily produced by pregnant women, but it can also be produced in the early stages of lactation after childbirth, regardless of the pregnancy outcome. In some cases, women may produce colostrum even before giving birth, typically during the later stages of pregnancy. Additionally, certain mammals, including some non-human species, also produce colostrum to nourish their young.
