yes... In SOME cultures. In others... Not so much. (I, personally, believe them to be good luck.... So they ARE for me).

To the Japanese they symbolize summer and winter. Admired, respected as sign of change. To the samurai it is a symbol of power, agility and victory.

To the Chinese it symbolizes Prosperity, harmony and is a good luck charm.

To Native Americans it is a sign of purity, speed and happiness.

To many Europeans, and therefore Aussies, it is considered the "Witches Animal" and was, historically, believed that it was sent by Satan.
