Is Associate in Science the same as Associate in Arts?

The associates of arts degree covers a wide variety of programs and typically designed for transfer to four year colleges and universities within the same area. In other, education, communication, business, fine arts, criminal justice etc. In general it completes the first two years of a four year program within the general educational cluster to include a well balanced experience in the liberal arts, exact science, social science, and humanities areas, with foundation courses particular to the major program of study.

The liberal arts and science degree in many institutions is a degree which allows flexibility in that the student can explore a variety of areas of interest. The major requirements are indicated, however they are flexible, and usually the elective area is large and open to almost anything the student wishes to take. However, if the courses are too spread out, transfer to a four year institution with full faith in credit will be extremely difficult.
