How much does a graphic designer earn in Australia?

I'm not sure but I graduated a year ago and worked as a freelancer in New Zealand design studiOS for about $50k a year, but when I moved to Australia I was offered a position for $28k a year which seems to low to me and I would like to find out what is average for a designer with a year and a half's experience?
