The term originated in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where deer hunting is an annual passion. The ultimate compliment of someone's deer is to say that it has a nice rack meaning that it had a nice set of antlers. In 1972 a group of friends were admiring a well-endowed young lady at a local park and one of them mentioned that she had a "nice rack". They all agreed, laughed and headed to the bar. A year later they graduated high school and spread to various colleges using the term openly. About 3-5 years later the term "nice rack" was common vernacular nationwide.
