What is a MD doctor?

M.D. means medical doctor and is a degree awarded for master's level coursework in the United States and for actual doctoral level coursework in most Commonwealth Countries. M.D. are qualified to practice medicine but not to conduct research. They should not be confused with Academic Doctors or actual holders of a Medical Doctorate such as those found in Europe and parts of Latin America.
