Are pit bulls and labs a good mix?

I have a 6 1/2 year old pit/hound mix and he's the best dog I've had in my 30+ years of dog ownership. He has the intelligence, strength, quickness and athleticism of a pit and the bark and nose of a hound. I've never had a more obedient easily trained dog. His temperament, especially around children, is extremely good. His disposition and spirit is still much like a puppy and he can be very rambunctious.
