Thrombocytes, also known as platelets, are small, disc-shaped cell fragments that lack a nucleus. They typically measure about 1-3 micrometers in diameter and have a smooth, biconvex surface. Under a microscope, they appear as small, pale blue or purple granules clustered together, especially when stained. Their primary function is to aid in blood clotting by aggregating at sites of vascular injury.
