Why did grace kill children in the others?

Her husband had died in the war, causing her to go mad with grief. Grace was increasingly frustrated with her kidsm so she killed them with a pillow. Grace is overcome with guilt, so she shoots herself in the forehead.

Grace remembers what she did, but only sees it as a nightmare. She is living in denial about what happened.
