Is orange an ugly color

It really depends on personal preference. If you pair orange with a colour which is near to it on the colour wheel, then it should look nice to most people, meaning it is a complimenting colour. However, if you put orange with a contrasting colour such as green or blue or purple, then to most people it will look horrible.
