In Lord of the Flies Why does Jack resent Piggy so much?

Piggy symbolises innocence, he is fat, asthmatic, wears glasses etc. so is automatically a target.

Jack makes himself look good by picking on the victim

Jack is completely opposite, he symbolises the desent into savagery
