What does DRM mean when you want to download to your iPod?

DRM stands for Digital Rights Management, meaning that protection is put onto songs so that they can't be easily copied electronically. So when you purchase the song, you get one copy of the song, but you can't go and let a friend copy that song from your mp3 player. iTunes has this built into all its downloadable material.
