Is the Diablo 3 expansion going to be free?

As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding a new Diablo 3 expansion, nor any indication that it would be free. Previous expansions for the game, such as Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer, were paid content. Any future updates or expansions would likely follow a similar model unless stated otherwise by Blizzard Entertainment.
