ALWAYS check with your healthcare provider or pharmacist before taking any Medications. CVN, Walgreens or any chain or Mom & Pop Pharmacist would be glad to give you advice based on your particular condition.

Vicodin is a Narcotic pain releiver in the opioid family it has "Hydrocodone" as an active ingredient, it also has a NSAID named "acetaminophen" in it (main ingredient in Tylenol).

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic in the penicillin group of drugs. It fights bacteria in your body and is used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria. It will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or Flu.

These medicines do not perform the same function and should not affect the same systems. The Pain medicine is going to act on your CNS (Central nervous system). You should not take more than the doctor prescribed, because you can relax your breathing too much and go into what is called respitory depression, and die.

Some people think they can abuse the drug "Hydrocodone" because they feel okay and have takin it for a while, but they too can fall asleep and basically stop breathing and die as a result.

These medicines should be safe to take together. Dentists give these medicine together for conditions such as an abscessed tooth. The antibiotic will treat infection and the pain medicine will subside the pain while the antibiotic is working on what is causing the pain. So idealy by the time you finish your pain medicine then you shouldn't need it anymore, because the infection should be treated enough for the dentist to work on your tooth. They don't like to work on your teeth when there is an infection because bacteria can enter the bloodstream and attack the heart.

Again, always check with qualified people for your particular situation and all medications you are taking.
