Much of a veterinary technician's day is spent working on a computer or other piece of technology where data entry is required. Veterinary technicians enter information into medical records, set up equipment for performing diagnostic tests and imaging techniques which require that patient and client information be recorded as part of the diagnostic testing process, enter charges for procedures performed, email clients about their pet's health or needed preventative care, may be involved in writing clinic employee handbooks or procedures manuals or even write articles for publication in professional journals. The ability to perform these tasks accurately and efficiently is beneficial to the technician and also the the veterinarian and client.
