The cable box reference could mean a couple of things. Most commonly, a cable box' is what's referred to as a set top box' which usually sits on a shelf or on top of your TV. It's usually smaller than a VCR, which is able to 'see' the commands from your handheld remote control ( it uses infrared light) as also will have a display to tell you what channel number you're viewing. The 'other' cable box could be the junction box to which the cable from the company is attached to the wiring in your home. That's usually outside where the cable feed is located, if the company even uses 'em. Generally, it's just a double ended connector assembly with a way to attach a ground wire to your house's electrical ground or a grounding rod for lightning protection.
