To the west of ancient India were several countries, primarily Persia (modern-day Iran) and parts of the regions that are now Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Indus Valley, located in present-day Pakistan, was a significant area in ancient Indian civilization. Additionally, the region of Bactria, located in what is now Afghanistan, was also to the northwest. These areas had cultural and trade interactions with ancient India.
