How are numbers and letters on a land line phone?

On a landline phone, numbers are typically arranged on a keypad in a grid format, with the digits 1 through 9 arranged in three rows, and 0 at the bottom. Each number, except for 1 and 0, is associated with a set of letters: for example, 2 corresponds to A, B, and C; 3 to D, E, and F; and so on, up to 9, which corresponds to W, X, Y, and Z. This layout allows users to dial phone numbers while also enabling them to spell out Words or names associated with a phone number.
