How do you get the radio out of safe mode on your '98 passat?

There should be a card in your users manual with a code on it, and instructions on how to unlock the radio. If you don't have it then bring it to a dealer. They should unlock it for free. Write down the code for next time.

One other option is to find someone with / get the diagnostic software VAG COM, and the cable. Scanning the radio will provide the code.

AnswerYou can purchase a disk on e-bay with unlock codes for VW radiOS, search unlock code vw mine locked up and it worked for me takes several hours to reset !!!

they will not do it for free i just called the dealership and they said 48 bucks
