The current guidelines is 10,000 steps per day.

However, when you do the math, that equates to about 5 miles per day.

So if you discount your normal walking pattern of walking around the house, going to school, or shops as the case may be, it would seem that walking an additional 3 miles as part of the routine would bring you up to the guide lines.

3 miles is not far - an hour at a gentle stroll. Much less at a brisk pace.

Plug in an iPod or Walkman with a fast beat and you'll be up to the requirement in no time.
