The gun that killed Martin Luther King Jr. was a .30-06 caliber Remington rifle. It was found in the bathroom of a boarding house in Memphis, Tennessee, shortly after King was assassinated on April 4, 1968. The rifle was linked to James Earl Ray, who was convicted of King's murder and later died in prison. The weapon has since been kept as evidence and is not on public display.
