Form W-2 is Wage and Tax Statement. Your employer is required to keep all employment tax records for at least four years. Contact your employer for a copy.
If your employer doesn't provide/send your W-2 forms to you, then file Form 4506-T (Request for Transcript of Tax Return). The IRS will send you a transcript (a computer printout of the information on your return, including information on your W-2 forms). A transcript generally is accepted by lending agencies, such as for student loans and motgages. There's no charge for this service. It takes about 10-30 days to process this request.
For more information, go to www.irs.gov/taxtopics for Topic 154 (Forms W-2 and Form 1099-R What to Do if Not Received).
