Are plastic dog toys bad for small dogs if they chew them up and happen to swallow a piece?

Most dog chew toys are meant to have small parts ingested without any problem. If your dog actually swallowed the entire thing, I would see a vet immediately because it could cause intestinal blockage that might require emergency surgery.
