Harley Davidson has produced many different kinds of motorcycles over the years. However, looking at the types available now, these can be grouped into five main types or categories. Within each category there are some variations as to special parts and equipment of the motorcycles, but the types are the following: Sportster: This is designed as a racing type of bike, with engines from 883cc up to 1200cc. Examples: SuperLow, Iron883, 1200 Custom and Forty-Eight. Touring: These bikes come with a full fairing, comfortable seats that makes it easy to drive them for long distances and also big saddlebags for the stuff you want to take with you. Examples: Road King, Road King Classic, Street Glide and Road Glide Custom. Softail: These bikes are usually called classic or traditional cruisers and their design reminds one a bit of the large toruing bikes from 50 and 60 years ago. Fat Boy, Fat Boy Lo, Blackline and Softail Deluxe. Dyna: This is also a kind of touring or road bike designed for long distance travel. One of its main characteristic is making it possible for the driver to sit in a comfortable upright position. The Fat Bob, the Wide Glide, the Super Wide Glide and Street Bod as well as the the Dyna Glide are typical of this class. VRSC: This is better known as the V-Rod Harley, a cruiser that is different in design and concept from the other motorcycles mentioned here. They were the first Harley Davidson bikes to use liquid cooling systems for their engines and reflect an influence of foreign imported bikes on the American motorcycle market. Examples: Night Rod Special and V-Rod Muscle.
