The March Against Fear in 1966 was led by civil rights activist James Meredith. He initially organized the march to protest against racial discrimination and to encourage African Americans to register to vote in Mississippi. After he was shot and injured during the march, other civil rights leaders, including Martin Luther King Jr. and Stokely Carmichael, joined in to continue the effort and promote the cause. The march ultimately became a significant event in the Civil Rights Movement.
