Is a domestic cat a predator or prey?

Well, a predator is one who lives by preying on other organisms. So, in that sense I would say they are not because they live by being fed by their owner. However, if a mouse happened along, I believe in that sense they could be considered a predator. I would think it is in their nature (instinct).
