What is a caster wheel?

The next time you go to your local Shopping Center have a look at the wheels under the shopping cart. Those are caster wheels.

A caster wheel is a wheel attached to the bottom of objects (notably bed frames, office chairs, and skateboards), and for carts and dollies. A caster wheel usually incorporates its own single-wheel axle.

Some caster wheels can swivel, up to 360 degrees, to make turns and lateral motion possible.
