What is the difference between calibration and standardization?

The term calibration is sometimes used interchangeably with the term standardization.

Calibration normally means to check against known standards, whereas standardization usually means to make uniform. For some equipment,

the term calibrated is more appropriate; for other equipment, the term

standardized is better.
